MEET The artist
Beyond the photograph.
I'm Rebekah-May Reynolds, a Scottish graphite artist creating drawings that invite people to slow down, look a little closer and discover something beyond the subject itself.
Whether I'm drawing wildlife or people, I begin with careful observation. As the hours pass, expressions soften, personalities emerge and a story gradually reveals itself. It's those quiet moments of connection that I hope my work captures.
Welcome to my studio.
Why I Draw
For years, drawing was something I did simply because I loved it.
It wasn't until the children I taught kept asking why I wasn't selling my artwork that I started wondering the same thing myself. Around the same time, someone close to me encouraged me to give it a try.
So Reynolds Portraiture was born.
My Approach
OBSERVATION
I spend hours studying the tiny details that are easy to overlook; how light catches a single strand of fur, the texture of weathered bark, or the subtle expression that changes the feeling of an entire piece.
CHARACTER
As each drawing develops, I find myself noticing something beyond the reference photograph. A personality begins to emerge, and that's the moment I start drawing towards.
STORY
Technical accuracy is only part of what I'm trying to achieve. I hope every drawing captures a moment that encourages you to pause, look closer and imagine the story unfolding beyond the page.
